I believe that we are who we are because a greater Being created us that way. There is not a technical 'gene' or 'trait' that we are born with. It is most common than women or more sensitive and men are more aggressive. In general. Everyone knows the song, "anything you can do, I can do better!" Well yea! I can put oil in my car just as well as a guy can make brownies, from scratch? Maybe haha in my own family, there are some tasks or jobs that only my dad can do such as; splitting wood, carrying in the Christmas tree, or mowing the lawn. Mom on the other hand, she cared for and nurtured all of her kids(who I may add, turned out to be pretty great), give those 'mom talks,' or even moving the furniture around every month. But both my parents are great cooks, pro dish washers, and laundry folders. Even though they are different in size, previous family situations, or education level, my parents are equal as a partnership. They are unique to each of their personalities, responsibilities, and being my mom and dad.
Now let's make a smooth transition to a similar topic on gender roles...is same sex attractions a choice or is it natural? Good transition right? In my own personal opinion, I believe it is put on people as a 'label.' If you tell someone they are ugly, they will believe you. If you say they are good at something, they will think that and have more confidence. If you think your child is gay when they are younger, they might believe it. It is when you label something, you no longer see it as it really is. I truly believe that same-sex attractions are a trial that people will have to go through to overcome. All human beings have inborn differences. Back to how we are all so unique! Most people who end up being 'gay' or 'lesbian' have gone through some experience which makes them believe they are that person and they are viewed as 'bad people.' We believe in equal rights. We believe in respect. We believe in religious freedom. Whatever situation people go through, maybe we should be the ones not to rob others of their identity. It may be us that is judging the righteous. The facts are not always there. If you are struggling with same-sex attractions, you can get help. Turn to a higher power and be open and honest. If you have issues with someone with those attractions, just remember we too have trials we have to go through. And we do not have to go through it alone. We are all different, but that is what can bring us closer together.
